  • Hippari Dako has a lively, casual izakaya atmosphere with a nostalgic interior filled with handwritten menus and colorful details. The seating is compact, with shared tables and counter seats, so it can feel a bit tight when it’s busy—but it adds to the energetic, local vibe. The food is simple, comforting, and satisfying. The chicken cutlet is crispy on the outside and juicy inside, served hot and freshly fried. Fried cheese is a fun snack option—golden, crunchy, and perfectly melty inside. The soy sauce ramen is light yet flavorful, with a comforting broth that’s easy to enjoy, especially on a cold day. Gyoza comes nicely pan-fried with crisp bottoms and juicy filling, making it a solid side to share. Service is friendly and efficient, with staff moving quickly and keeping the flow smooth even during peak hours. Overall, Hippari Dako is a great stop for casual Japanese comfort food in a fun, no-frills setting.

  • Small restaurant with shared tables. Likely you’ll meet and talk to other travelers - it’s hard not to. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was fun. You can write a note or draw a picture and add it to their ‘post-it note wallpaper’ Prices great and good outstanding!

  • Damn! This place was damn delicious! I’m very glad I tried it and highly recommend you do the same. The beer was cold and crisp. The gyoza was hot, fresh, and filling. The noodles were perfectly tender and the ginger! So fresh and so clean. This place will not disappoint you! Would definitely go back

  • Ordered the Yakisoba/ Yakitori/ Rice with seasoning. All of them taste good. Add on a Yuba sashimi (Nikko specialty) as a starter. it was silky smooth and the taste profile changes with wasabi and soy sauce. Had a hearty meal and all of these cost just 1700 yen. Highly recommended.

  • Tiny little place, perfect to take a break after temples and shrines' trip. In the inside, walls are full of customers' notes, you can leave a message or a memory. Lovely food, perfect also for vegetarians. Staff is not so cheering up and kind like the typical japanese waiter/waitress, but it's okay.

  • It's a nice place to go. Food taste was good and quantity was fair based on the price but still close to a high rate. The staff are nice and active The atmosphere is nice and the walls are full of notes and stickers by visitors so it gives a different impression and atmosphere. There is no nursery room For kids is ok but not that much space available to be free
